Decorative Painter YUKA NATORI
Yuka Natori Decorative Painter
I was born in Kanagawa, Japan in 1981 and I currently live on the Sunshine Coast, in Queensland, Australia.
My fascination with painting started when I was very young, under the influence of my grandfather.
I watched my grandfather paint the interiors and exteriors of our house. He also painted lovely pictures and murals for all his grandchildren to enjoy.
I used to spend a lot of time with him in his garage, and I even helped him paint the roof of our house.
As a result of my grandfather’s influence, I loved art and drawing classes at school, and often got so absorbed in sketching that I forgot the next class and kept on drawing.
I continued to love art throughout my schooling, and set my wishes and intention to work with art into the future.
I happened to stop by a bookshop and came across an interesting painting company advertised in an architecture magazine.
The company was looking for a painter for a big project. I took the opportunity to apply for the position, and I got the job!
So at 19, I started working as an apprentice, and everyday I was learning new ways to paint.
I still remember how much fun I had every single day and wondered if I should be getting paid for doing something I enjoyed so much.
After working on more than 1,000 painting sites, including theme parks and shops in Japan, I gained experience and skill as a painter. Eventually I became a site manager and carried out a variety of tasks, from meeting with clients to managing personnel and budgets, and learning the overall work flow.
Although I loved painting and was happy at my job, I felt a calling to learn other languages and improve myself in other areas.
In 2015, I left my job and moved to Australia by myself. Ironically, I met many local artists and creators and was inspired to paint more.
Living in the wilderness of Australia has been an entirely new experience. I have become more environmentally conscious, and have been inspired to create artworks out of nature using wood, shells, leaves and recycled waste.
I would like to share with clients the power to create with paint, to create individual pictures and to create unique spaces in our homes and shops.
I would like to share my skills and make art accessible to as many people as possible.
Some people may think that art is too difficult and might be embarrassed to even try it.
However, by learning the basics of painting, you will be able to express yourself with colours and nurture a confidence to paint and/or draw.
I offer DIY painting classes for beginners, Painting classes for children, Mural painting classes, and Sign painting classes.
Please feel free to contact me for more information.
